With the unstable summer weather in Hong Kong, a rain jacket is the perfect accent clothing. Better yet, a rain jacket made from materials created using plastic bottles! TWIG Design and Project A in conjunction with Hong Kong environmental social enterprise Heroes2 held a sustainable rain jacket exhibition to promote sustainable living through eco-friendly lifestyle products. The first of many eco design challenges created by TWIG Design and Project A. Design Network Agency (DNA) was set up to continue the successful partnership and integrate the ideas of both parties.
The objective of the first design challenge, The Sustainable Rain Jacket Competition, aimed to find talented Hong Kong designers and/or students who have ambitions of creating a fashion business with sustainable materials. During the competition, participants would obtain private lectures from leading fashion designers in Hong Kong and got a chance to be at the forefront of the ever-changing fashion industry through the development of low carbon clothing. The exhibition period ran from July 18th to 30th 2012, and showcased 18 award-winning outfits in high traffic locations on Hong Kong Island.
